We are looking for MODO Marketing and Development Interns!

Here's what we're looking for:

The Opera MODO Marketing and Development Internship is a project oriented program allowing individuals to work closely with Opera MODO management, marketing and development services staff throughout the 2019-2020 season. Interns will work closely with the Managing Director on all aspects of marketing and development. In addition, Interns will work closely with the Managing Director, and Executive Director in the development of long term growth and development strategies of the company.  

Principal duties include:

  • Support Opera MODO Managing Director and staff with day to day administrative duties of a professional opera company in the areas of marketing, development, patron services, and general management

  • Assist in the creation and distribution of marketing and publicity materials

  • Assist in developing content for Opera MODO’s social media presence and development of social media timelines

  • Support staff and executive leadership in the development and implementation of new strategies and initiatives for both fundraising and marketing

  • Provide support around research and expansion of new marketing initiatives

  • Assist with prospective donor research and cultivation, as well as current donor stewardship

  • Assist with research into foundations and grant programs

  • Support staff in the execution of special events, including the annual gala

  • Participate in weekly staff meetings as needed

  • Data entry and database management

  • Other administrative duties as needed


  • A working knowledge of theater, arts administration, or non-profit marketing practices

  • Experience with marketing on social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat

  • Exceptional written communication skills

  • Highly organized and detail oriented

  • Self-starter

  • Team player

  • Enjoy working in fast paced environment

  • Expert in Microsoft office suite, including Excel

  • A sense of humor is required

  • Knowledge of database management, graphic design, marketing, and/or communications a plus

  • The ideal candidate is interested in a career in theater administration

Are you interested in learning more about the craft of opera?!  If so, what a wonderful way to do it by being on the ground floor of making an opera happen!  It takes many people to make a great show, and a lot of the work happens off the stage/behind the scenes.

What we're looking for:

Production Crew:
Assistant Musical Directors (AMD), Assistant Stage Directors (AD), Stage Managers (SM), Assistant Stage Managers (ASM), Props, Costumes, Set Design/Construction

ADMIN (approx 5 hours a week or by project):
Social Media Intern, Graphic Design Intern, Scheduling/Production Coordination Intern, Development/Grant Intern, Marketing/Publicity Intern

Rehearsal Schedule:
Tuesday 7-10pm
Saturday 11-4pm
Sunday 2-6pm
Just to give an idea: 2 weeks MUSICAL rehearsal, 3 weeks staging, tech week and shows
