Don Pasquale, by Gaetano Donizetti. When the wealthy Don Pasquale threatens to his disinherit his nephew if he marries the one he loves, Ernesto, Norina and Malatesta resort to hilariously extreme measures to change his mind. Ruffini and Donizetti’s libretto, in a new English translation, will feature two distinct casts, each with their own array of voice types. This new MODO production will celebrate the beautiful athleticism of bel canto singing in any vocal range, and use the old, familiar operatic devices of disguise and deceit to put an outrageous new twist on this story. Please note: this updated version will deal with Queer culture and the LGBTQ community!
